It was another perfect day in October as 80 plate collectors (73 members wi th 7 guests)gathered at the Elks Lodge 1895 in Pompton Lakes, NJ. This new location provided plenty of room and easy access for unloading, surpassed our initial record of 78 attendees set at our first meet at the Tice Senior Center in November 2008. We also were very pleased to see so many younger members attend the meet and add to their collections
As in the past few meets the displays were absolutely amazing. Allan Attanasio took home the Best display Award for his New Jersey Motor Vehicle Inspector license plates. Best Single Plate Award went to Phil Leib who brought a 1903 New Jersey Pre-state leather plate. We had four members from Arizona competing for the Long Distance Award but Kerry Weishaar of Marana Arizona snagged the prize traveling approximately 2,410 miles beating out fellow Arizona members, Steve “16 Lizards” Benson, Dean Sandvold and Regional Meet Chairman Clark Wothe
Hosts Ed Butler and Justin Mattes welcomed Joe Pugliese to the Garden State team as Director of Communications and Registrations facilitator to make our operations run smoothly. Joe worked over time designing the signs and our new banner. He also completely our revamped website. Thanks also goes to Jeff Francis our auctioneer and Dean Sandvold for additional record keeping.
Our next meet will on Saturday October 9, 2027 at the Elks Lodge in Pompton Lakes, NJ
